Mooresville
Mooresville is a large town located in south western section of Iredell County, North Carolina, United States and is a part of the fast-growing Charlotte Metro area. The population was 32,711 at the 2010 United States Census. In 2019, the population had increased to 39,132, making it the largest municipality in Iredell County. It is located approximately 25 miles north of Charlotte.
Founded in the 1850’s and sitting on the stunning shores of Lake Norman, Mooresville offers a variety of year round recreation, adventure and relaxation. Beginning as a railroad town, then to a textile center, Mooresville has preserved its past and you can find a number of great historical buildings, especially in the downtown area.
Mooresville is primarily served by the Mooresville Graded School District, but is also partly in the Iredell-Statesville school system. A proposal in the 2007 North Carolina state budget could have possibly consolidated the two systems. It states that only one school system in a county would be funded. It was stalled in committee though and failed passage. Previous attempts to consolidate have been defeated.
By 2010, every student in the fourth through twelfth grades in the Mooresville Graded School District had a MacBook laptop. Mooresville recently built a new intermediate school and elementary school, then moved the middle school to Mooresville Intermediate School, and is using the old middle school as an extended campus of the Mooresville High School, known as the Magnolia Street Campus.
Mooresville is the location of a campus of Mitchell Community College, whose main campus is in Statesville, the county seat of Iredell County.
Mooresville is best known as the home of many NASCAR racing teams and drivers, along with an IndyCar team and its drivers, as well as racing technology suppliers, which has earned the town the nickname “Race City USA”. Also located in Mooresville is the corporate headquarters of Lowe’s Corporation and Universal Technical Institute’s NASCAR Technical Institute. Nicknamed “Race City, USA” Mooresville is home to many of NASCAR’s most prominent teams and, if you are a racing enthusiast, you will want to visit the racing facilities to see firsthand the cars and crews, as well as the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame.
Being on the shores of Lake Norman provides ample opportunities for young and old alike. From boating, paddle boarding, and jet skis to the best fishing around.
Troutman
Settled in 1778, Troutman is named after John Jacob Trautman (later spelled Troutman), one of its first residents. The town’s economy was initially fueled by milling and furniture-making during the late 1700s to early 1800s, but was later on replaced by cotton farming and textile mills after prime timber was depleted in the area. Troutman was officially incorporated as a town in 1905.
Known as “Lake Norman’s Front Porch,” Troutman is a town that embraces the quintessential small town spirit, making it a charming place to call home. The town offers a high quality of life thanks to its family-friendly environment, enjoyable events and celebrations, and convenient access to a wide variety of entertainment and employment opportunities in nearby Charlotte, Hickory, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem. Relax by the beautiful, calming waters of Lake Norman while unwinding from a hectic work day or take a break to chat with a neighbor, take a step back from the hustle and bustle and enjoy Troutman.
Statesville
Statesville was originally a settlement known as the “Fourth Creek Congregation” in the mid-1700s, and was used as a frontier fort during the Anglo-Cherokee War and the French and Indian War. Since then, the area has grown into a strong manufacturing center that accounts for more than 12,000 of the 77,000 jobs available in the community.
